We support the work and represent the interests of lawyers of Caribbean heritage

SOCAL’s Mission

SOCAL’s mission is to support the work and represent the interests of lawyers of Caribbean heritage in the United Kingdom and lawyers who work in the Caribbean. SOCAL will:

Support

Improve the experiences of students and junior lawyers of Caribbean heritage as they enter and progress through the legal profession.

Network

Create and promote a network of lawyers of Caribbean heritage and lawyers who work in the Caribbean or with Caribbean jurisdictions.

Advocate

Advocate for the Caribbean region and the Caribbean diaspora in relation to legal issues affecting the Caribbean community.

Our History

The Society of Caribbean Lawyers was founded in 2022 to bring together lawyers of Caribbean heritage in the UK and lawyers working in the Caribbean. We hosted our first event, a Reggae-themed Winter Warmer drinks reception in early 2023 and since then SOCAL has grown into a vibrant network where members support one another and amplify Caribbean voices across the profession.
