Who is eligible to join the Society of Caribbean Lawyers (“SOCAL”) as a member?

Anyone who is a lawyer, law student, prospective lawyer or prospective law student*1 who wishes to support or participate in the activities of the Society of Caribbean Lawyers.

What are the benefits of SOCAL membership?

  • You will have priority access to our events to SOCAL events and tickets will be released to members before others. Examples of planned events include: networking events, lectures, drinks receptions, art gallery visits, dine and limes, and more. Some of these events will be restricted to SOCAL members-only.

  • You will receive a discount on tickets for both our annual Gala and our summer event.

  • Member names will be entered into an annual raffle with exciting Caribbean-inspired prizes.

  • You will make new connections with other legal professionals of Caribbean heritage and lawyers working in the Caribbean.

  • You will receive our newsletter. You may also receive further updates of SOCAL news, relevant events and other items of interest via email and our social media accounts.

  • You will receive exclusive discounts at Montegos and Limin’ Southbank.

How much does SOCAL membership cost?

Individual: £20 (+VAT) per annum

Students*: £10 (+VAT) per annum

*To be eligible for student membership, you must be a law student or prospective law student enrolled on a course due to start in the coming academic year. Students may be required to verify their student status.

Corporate membership

Standard: £1,500 (+VAT) per annum

Small Organisation*: £350 (+VAT) per annum

A “Small Organisation” is defined as one with 50 or fewer total staff members. Organisations with 51 or more staff members must register for Standard corporate membership.

Corporate members will receive the following benefits:

  • Priority access to SOCAL events

  • 10 free SOCAL event tickets per year (excluding the annual Gala and summer event) for staff at your organisation where they can connect with a cross-section of legal practitioners.

  • Your logo on SOCAL’s website and newsletter to raise your profile with our members that includes solicitors, barristers, in-house lawyers, judges and law students.

  • Access to SOCAL’s Caribbean law firm database.

  • Advertisement of your organisation’s vacancies on SOCAL’s website and newsletter, enabling you to tap into a diverse pool of top tier talent.

  • A digital membership badge for your organisation’s website and/or social media channels

  • A seat on SOCAL’s advisory board.

How to pay for SOCAL membership

Individuals (including students) can subscribe for SOCAL membership by filling in the form below. Following payment, you will be provided with your unique membership number.

Corporations should contact our Memberships Officer at info@socalawyers.com.

The membership fee will be collected annually in May.
